The Fruit Tree Man Nursery
Autumn is a great time to plant citrus and most of fruits, vines and herbs. It is the only time to plant disease-free garlic. With the cooler weather, irrigation is not as critical as in summer (although this has been an exceptionally dry year, so you may need to irrigate).
If you have an established garden, citrus, avocado and star fruit are harvesting. Buderim ginger and tumeric begin to lose their leaves. Passionfruit is in full production.
This is the time to apply mulch and/or fertilizer to evergreen species. We sell a specific fertilizer tailor-made to the soils found around this area of Australia. This is made up on the premises to exact proportions and is sold to customers at cost price.
If you're thinking of planting fruit trees, drop in and see us at Crystal Creek. I'll talk to you about what you want and help you choose plants that will be best suited to your conditions. All plants are sold with tags that provide additional information about ideal planting and growing conditions. We are also available for after sale service if you have any questions.
Ron, the Fruit Tree Man, has a degree in Horticulture from the "old" Gatton Agriculture College. He has worked for the QLD Department of Primary Industries as well as Edgell Birdseye and other food manufacturing businesses.
